We are both so excited as we sit here writing this blog tonight! Lots of amazing things going on with us....at least we think so :-). Before we left for Disney World, I was able to feel the baby move for the first time. It felt as if popcorn was popping in my belly....such a cool feeling. Then, we headed to Florida a few days later and had an amazing time! We got to see friends down in Florida we haven't seen in a long time (and miss a lot) in addition to spending time with my entire general family (21 people)...craziness! We returned Saturday night and despite both having colds we were excited to start working on the nursery. Our errands on Sunday included buying paint and finding wall lettering for the baby's room. Buddy Holly (our cat) hasn't been so happy that we won't let him in that room. He probably will be even more unhappy once we bring the baby home and he doesn't get our undivided attention anymore!
Last night I was watching TV and falling asleep on the couch (Jason was out) and all of the sudden I started feeling something. I quickly felt my belly and realized "The baby is kicking me"! It was soooo cool. I sent Jason a text message but he didn't get it til later and I wanted to tell somebody but it was 10 at night and everyone was sleeping. So, in my excitement I just fell asleep.
Today, we went for our 20 week ultrasound and we got to see our baby for 50 wonderful minutes!!!! The tech. took so many pictures just to measure different parts of the baby's body along with amount of amniotic fluid and parts of the umbilical cord. The baby was on its' back the entire time (minus 10 seconds) so the tech. couldn't take a good look at the spine. So, we get to go back in a few weeks just for her to take more pictures. We don't mind though because we'll get to see the baby again. Our baby currently weighs 14 oz. and is measuring about 6 days ahead of the due date (2/26/08). The tech said that is normal and I'll still keep my due date. They only change it if the baby is measuring bigger or smaller by 14 days or more. The tech was doing her best to keep from the baby's "private parts" as we want to be surprised. But, at one point she went around the baby's legs and he/she spread them wide open. Neither Jason nor I knew what happened until she told us, so we still don't know the sex of the baby....and we don't mind.
Then tonight, just before we got on the computer I felt the baby kicking again. I quickly got Jason to feel my belly and he was actually able to feel the baby kicking too! Such a fun thing to share together!!!
